Vintage Monday - Hats

I decided since Mothers Day is coming up, I would show some of the things that remind us of our Mothers and Grandmothers. This Vintage Monday is hats. I have 3 so far in my collection and I have had these for quite a while. I havn't found another yet that I have fallen in love with besides these three or are in as good of shape as these are. I also collect for color because I always think of how things would look displayed together. I need to find a different color of hat to add to my small collection. Maybe in a 1930's green....it's time to go hunting.

These hats remind me of days gone by when you wouldn't think of going anywhere without one if you were a "proper" lady. These hats are sooo I Love Lucy...don't you think?

My grandmother used to wear hats exactly like those, exactly! They are so cute.

I have a friend, who even as a young mom wears hats every Sunday to church. She's a classy lady and can pull it off.

I'm showing my age... however.. when I was in 9th grade, 3 friends and I went to General Conference in April. We went into the city on Saturday and shopped for a hat to wear.

I pick a flat pink hat that went with my new Easter dress. It cost my $7.99.

Now those were the days when my baby sitting fee was $.25 per hour... so you see what a sacrifice the hat was.

That Christmas...I got a new black dress, black heels and hose, and of course.. a black hat with a feather.

I dropped the hats when I got to college... However, the guys were still wearing hats on their LDS missions.

When I got married... my hubby sported a hat to the BYU basketball games.

It wasn't too long after I graduated from college that hats were put back into "hat boxes"

Fun to see your old hats. Fun thing to collect. And thanks for the memories.

I wish I looked better in hats but, I sure love seeing them on other people. It's funny though, I wore a hat instead of a veil when I got married. Too Funny!

I especially love the yellow hat. The pink ones cute too!

Love those hats. I have never liked wearing hats but my daughter does and looks good in hats. I am not sure she would wear those though.

LOVE the hats!!! Last year my mother and I went through all of her hats (still in the original hat boxes) and some of her mother's hats .... I remember her wearing them to church when I was a little kid back in the '60's .... we had fun trying them on ... I pretty much looked like a dork (I think the lack of a Jackie Kennedy doo was part of the problem!) ...and I Love Lucy is my all time FAVORITE show ... loved her clothes and HATS!! FUN !

I love vintage! Those hats are beautiful reminders of what used to be...if only I could have been there!

My mother decided at one time she could make hats alot better than the one she saw at the store and for cheaper. So she started making hats..alot of them...spending alot more and making more than she would have ever bought. They turned out to be very ugly hats...we didn't tell her but after she died we all had to have one of those ugly hats!...I got the one covered with black feathers..I always smile when I look at it and think of my mom, her glue gun and all those hats.

One of my favorite things to do is to DVR old movies and watch/listen in my sewing room. Last night I watched (well when I wasn't cutting and stitching) an old movie called "The Women". I've seen it about 3-4 times. I love it. It has only women in the movie. Not one man. Anyway they all wear hats. I loved seeing all the different styles and types. Hats are a lovely fashion accessory that is neglected these days.
