Apricot Season

First you get your 12 year old son to climb up Grandma's very old, very full apricot tree and fill up a bucket....
You also get your daughter to put on an apron and join in on the fun...after son peels and pits the apricots...

In a few hours you have delicious apricot jam....

A wonderful taste of summer to enjoy in the middle of winter.....

I love apricots. Making some preserves would be nice.

I can almost taste my grandmother's plum, and apricot jam just reading your blog. Thanks for bringing back all the memories of helping her in the kitchen making batches of jam. Mine just never tasted the same.

Oh whow! It looks awesome and the kids can say "it's apricot jam and I heeleped!" I'll be looking forward to pictures of it smeared on top of some homemade bread :)

What a great day in the kitchen for the three of you! Enjoy the fruits of your labor - it will be so good next winter. Although you should have some now as a reward! Carol

I am soooooo jealous, I love apricots, but here in western NC there seems to be none, so where does grandma live, maybe I can sneak over and get me a bucket, grin. The jam looks yummy!

Love the jars of apricot jam all lined up. It's good to have helpers, too.

I love apricots and apricot jam is my absolute favourite. When I was a child we used to buy it in a tin and I would have eaten it straight out of the tin given half a chance. We don't get apricots growing on our trees in Scotland, so your jars of jam seem very exotic to me.

Mmmmmmmm! Just so you know, I opened on of the jars and took a big swipe with my finger. I don't want you to pass on my kooties, so I will gladly eat that entire jar.

Obviously I love food. But one thing I don't like is apricots. Our peaches are starting to come on though. And I brought 2 to work with me. They are sooo incredibly sweet. Like eating candy.
