Paper Doll Block...Sophie goes to Grandma's...

I designed a new "Paper Doll" block and taught it in my applique club yesterday at Material Girls.
I thought I would show you just a little bit of making the block.....

The completed block.....do you like it?
Sophie paper doll is named after my little grandaughter Sophie Belle. Someday when she is old enough, I'm going to teach her how to embroidery, make yo-yo's and quilt in real life!
But until then, I'm happy just to rock her in my favorite chair and sing to her my favorite songs.
I'm having so much fun being a grandma.....

Lori, this is my favorite block yet! It is so cute. Reminds me of when I was a little girl. I learned how to embroider when I was 11. I can hardly wait to get started!!!

Absolutely love the round hathox suitcase. My daughter has a fondness for them and my parent's recently gave her their original samsonite luggage set, monogramed in brass, with train case and hat box...the suitcases also have the original hangers.

Those are the tiniest yo yos! And I must say your fingernails are quite festive.

After seeing your block, I want to come to Grandma's house too, and learn to make all those wonderful things. Lucky little Sophie to have such a talented and loving grandma.
You do such beautiful hand work Lori. I think at our girl get away we need to have a lesson by you. What do you think of that idea?

Paper dolls reminds me of my grandmother she would get the McCall's magazine and in every issue it would come with a paper doll. If remember I think her name was Betsy? Once again your workmanship is amazing!

the pins and threaded needle in the pincushion.
the teeny, tiny yoyos.
"monday" kitty embroidery.
and my favorite . . .
all the miniscule skeins of floss.
amazing.

Well it turned out perfectly. The shoes are killing me. Reverse applique in tiny tiny scale. Wow. Your skills always impress me. Sophie will be so proud of this quilt someday when she gets to live this life!

To call you a creative genius is an understatement!

Loved seeing your lunch with Nanette and then to Nadine's for dessert!

Lori, you keep coming up with the most incredible designs that I have ever seen! There are no words to describe this block...it is beyond adorable!
When I grow up, will you teach me how to embroidery, make yo-yo's and quilt in real life like you do? Honestly, I need to take one of your classes that starts in January or so. By then I will be finished with my Foundation, Sub for Santa work.
