My Bags Ain't Packed...

....but I'm so READY to go....because my projects ARE packed....and I. really. need. a. vacation. really.
So next week I am going on little trip which I will tell you more about later.

I spent the last weekend (in between egg hunts) pulling fabric from my stash and cutting quilts to work on while I'm there and so far I have three projects ready to go.

Remember this one? It's my dresdon plate that I showed you when I started it back in February during the American Quilting retreat....I was able to find time to complete all of the dresdons...

...but I still need to get them appliqued onto the background (which will be 15" squares).... and piece the hourglass blocks for the sashings.

So I cut all of the pieces for them and stacked everything into one of the containers that I use to keep my ongoing projects in.
I bought the containers from Roberts Crafts in the scrapbooking section...they measure
12 1/2" x 12 1/2" and are about 4" deep which makes them a perfect size for holding a precut quilt.
These containers stack very nicely on top of each other and make it easy for me to put away my "ongoing projects" ...along with everything that I need until I can get back to it.
I also keep the pattern or book in there along with any special rulers I might need for that particular quilt.
So...with that one all ready to go... I grabbed another container....pulled a bunch of fabric
from my stash.... and started cutting again.

This is what I ended up with....more neatly stacked fabric all cut and ready to make...

...this quilt. Sunny Days by Geoffs Mom Pattern Co.
I thought this trip would be a perfect time to piece this quilt because where I am going is a "Sunny" place....or at least I hope it will be.
I'm really tired if the snow.

When I had finished cutting that one...I noticed that I had one more empty container and I thought "what the heck"...I might as well cut another quilt while I still have all of this fabric out.
I chose a different background which is the green polka dot instead of red and....

.... added a few more colors from my stash that I had already used for the Sunny Days and cut everything I needed for...

...this quilt. "Laundry Baskets" by Fig Tree.
I thought it was fitting to cut for a basket quilt over Easter weekend.
I still have ALOT of work to do before I can pack my bags...but I am trying to get it finished in record time so that I can go.
And who knows?...if I finish early I just might cut for another quilt....lol...
There is just something about having several quilts "ready to go"...that makes me happy!

I think you, Rae Ann and I are all going to be working on Sunny Days. And I KNOW it will be better weather than what you have had.
Great organization. I love everyone of your projects already. But then, I always do.

Oh, I wish I was going with you!! I love how you have everything cut and ready. I should think of that more often. The bins you have them in are perfect!

Some of the girls in my guild have the plastic containers for their projects. Really a great way to keep things together. When you get to your destination (sounds like it will be fun) you can start right in on whichever project you want to work on. Love the dresden plates! Carol

I love the colors and prints you chose for your dresden plate! I just can't get over how much you get done all the time. I should nickname you "Superwoman"! Have a great time on your getaway.

You have some great quilts all lined up- you are one organized lady I admire that skill in others because it is not my greatest skill- I often wish I was better at it.
I am sure you will get them all completed and they will be fantastic.
Have a great retreat.
Regards,
Anna

Oh my gosh you're ambitious. Thinking of all you've got going on I can't believe you are project packed!! I just sat in the sewing room last night not doing things I needed to do and tried to figure out what to take!

My favorite thing - precut projects - ready and waiting to become beautiful quilts. Beautiful fabrics and projects, Lori.

Lori, I just bought containers to put my cut out quilts for our next retreat. My goodness you have a lot to sew on. Since you love to cut out can I send you mine? I know if I have projects ready to go, they get sewn faster.
Beautiful color and pattern choices!!!
Have a great time.

I do the same thing as you. I take way too many projects when I go on retreats, but I'm so afraid of getting bored! There's nothing like finishing a project and having nothing else to work on.

I love your projects and your fabrics. I, too, would like to make "Laundry Baskets".
