Vintage Monday...Vintage Dresses...

It's seems like forever since I did a Vintage Monday post...
so I thought today that I would!
Today I'm going to share a link to vintage style dresses...
if you happen to have a crush on vintage like me...
you will appreciate it:)

A few weeks ago when I showed you my finished row along quilt...
I had several emails asking me about the dress in my front room.

I have a dress form that I like to keep vintage dresses
on and change them out from time to time.

This one is my current choice.
It's made from my Millie's Closet fabric collection...
and yes it is made from a vintage vogue pattern:)

I have been collecting vintage patterns for a long time....

I can never pass these beauties up
when I see them in the thrift shops...
so I have quite a few that
 I've picked up over time...
and these are just a few!

Of course you know that I love everything vintage ...
and I love all of the colors and the
feminine details of vintage clothing too.
It seems those kind of things
are left out of modern styles somehow.

My daughter Kassidy loves vintage too.
She has such a hard time finding dresses and skirts
because the styles are all way too short for her long legs.

But there is one place that she can always count on...
it's a favorite of ours...
LOVE IT!!!
They sell all kinds of vintage style clothing.
YaY!

Just look at the white tulle skirt above.
 Kassidy loves this one...
she is a dancer and want's it in her closet ASAP!

Along with this vintage green gingham skirt...
so perfect for summer.

We love this dark plum dress too.
It would be perfect to show off some vintage jewelry ...
don't you think?

And look at this polka dotty one..
it would be sooo cute for school!

Kassidy has this mint green one in her closet.
There are so many other vintage styles to choose from ...
I just showed you a few of them.
Here is a link to the
if you want to look for yourself:)

I am so happy there is a place
that produces clothing in
the vintage style that we both love so much...
 pretty...feminine and modest:)

How about you?
Do you love vintage dresses and skirts like I do?
Did you already know about Shabby Apple?
And do you have a hard time passing up old patterns like me?
I'd love to know:)
xx
Lori

I love that shoulder detail with the rouleau loops- wonderful! I suit a more 70s style and I definitely don't worry about my legs being too long, if only. I do find detailing is a vintage pattern speciality

I love vintage style clothes also, I usually use patterns from sew serendipity, her patterns are modern vintage.

Love this post! I wish I never got rid of my old clothing patterns (there was a time I thought I would never sew clothing again . . .silly me). I'm not a fan of the new ones with all the sizes combined on one pattern. Just give me one line to cut on please.

I love vintage clothes too! I have quite a few patterns that are mostly childrens clothes. I love sewing for children.

It is so nice to find a friend here in blog land that loves all the same things that I do.

I LOVE those styles. Those women look so relaxed, feminine and beautiful. I think a lot of the styles today make people look like they are uncomfortable in their clothes - too tight - too short - heels too high, whatever. It is nice to see the hemlines at that fashionable knee length, which is so flattering on most women.

I love the dresses especially the red one. I just started wearing dresses the last couple of years since I had lost 60 lbs. I could never get them to fit and they were hard to fine. I have a few now that I wear a lot and those dresses are my style. Nice.

I do love vintage dresses. I've ordered a few in the vintage style from an online shop called "Dress 911". I think it's in Toronto. I will click over and check out the Shabby Apple.

The Shabby Apple is a great website! Your dress is beautiful, did you make it yourself with one of your vintage patterns? I really love the button shoulder detail.

The vintage dresses are so much better than they are now days. Too bad the style is hardly any clothes at all now days. I didn't know about Shabby Apple, but I am an old lady and have trouble finding clothes anyway.

Lori, I love vintage patterns, but I dont really know how to buy them since the sizing has changed. Can you give me any hints on how to buy old patterns in the correct size. I wear a size 6 or 4 , but if I go by the bust measurements, I would wear a 14 in a vintage. Could that be right? Thanks, Carol

Yes yes yes! Vintage styles are so pretty and it seems so much more modest than most of today's ready-made clothes. I like the Shabby Apple clothes also...I appreciate the vintage styles and they are modest! Modesty is important.

Yes, I love vintage clothes and patterns too!
I only have a handful of old patterns, but I have used one (from the 1950s) to make three dresses. My favourite of the three is at least a dozen years old and still always gets compliments.
I do hope you wear your lovely pink creation and do not just leave it at home on the mannequin.

How cute! Love the fabric.

I like Colette Patterns for vintagey stlyed patterns. She does tend to be on the short side for skirts and shorts, but her stuff is very pretty, feminine, and new. I'd recommend her blog and patterns.

The picture of your vintage pattern pile made me laugh. I recognize some of those patterns as ones my mother and I made! Why does it hurt to know I'm now vintage?

Those vintage style dresses are absolutely gorgeous but the one you made with your Millie's Closet fabric is by far the best! It's perfection!

Lovely post thankyou - I adore vintage too. My mum has so much of this stuff. I really should get it all out.

You have a awesome site love all the clothes and fabrics as I can tell you I am a self proclaimed fabric whore and I admit it to the world. It is not all my fault as my husband enables me with my problem, he takes me to fabric places and of course I have to buy, :) Keep up the good work I love it!

Hi Lori, I am a fan of your short toots, I even commented on the travel bag with the draw string closure. Ive watched a few of your new segments with the FQshop, and I did enjoy the barn raising block 5. I found it a bit hard to stay focused with the long at the machine stitching, but that is because I have been sewing for over 50 years. I too started out in fashion sewing then jumped over to crafts and quilting in 1992. Never looked back. TY for your knowledge sharing. Texas says HEY!!!

Carylanne said...

oh BTW can us show me where to look for a toot on the small design boards? I'm thinking a foam board covered in flannel and trimmed in fabric? close? Ty

Can you share the maker (Simplicity, Vogue, etc.) of the dress pattern at the top right of your website. It looks like it says pattern #2011. I must get my hands on this pattern!! My daughter is getting married in August and I want to make my own dress and just love this one. Thanks so much for sharing with me :)
