The Quilty Barn Along...Silo Barn 5 and a "Cool Threads" block Tutorial!...

Well good morning cute people!
As I always say...
it's better late than never...
and today it's time for the...

I chose to make a block of four
cute little 3" spools sewn together.

This barn has kind of a "hippie" vibe
with it's colorful hexie silo and cupola.
So I decided to name my block...

"Cool Threads"

I have shown you before how I make a spool block...
These are sewn the
exact same way but instead
 you are making four...
and the blocks are smaller.

Cutting for "Cool Threads!"
Cut 4 - 1 1/2" squares for your thread
Cut 8 - 1 1/2" x 3 1/2" for spool top and bottom
Cut 24 - 1 1/2" squares background

Sew a white square on each side of the thread squares...
press toward white.

Sew an Easy Corner Triangle to each side of the spool rectangles.
Trim and press towards the white.

Sew the spool top and bottom to each thread section.
Press towards the thread.
Each cute little "cool threads" block
should measure 3 1/2" square at this point.

Sew together alternating the direction of each block like this.
Your block should measure 6 1/2" square at this point

Close-up of pressing:)

Choose your silo and barn fabrics and

And there you go...
Quilty Silo Barn #5:)

I didn't have room for all five barns
on my design board but here are 4 of them together.

Remember this quilt has nine quilty barns total...
so we are over the halfway mark on this one!

Next week I will have #6 Quilty Silo Barn
and a new block tutorial for you.

Have a quilty kind of day...
xx
Lori

Your barns are so cute, I've made four so far, two with the silo and two of the other one. I already had a stack of 6 inch blocks for just this purpose and happened to come across your blog and barns. Perfect! Thank you so much!!!

I just want to say that I could kick myself for not doing this even if I was swamped when it started. Just beautiful!
