One more thing....

...to show you before I go.
Okay.
You caught me.
I'm already gone....
and I just know that I'm having a wonderful time!....
Well, I posted this early before I left!
I didn't want my blogettes to forget about me while I was away!

Before I left....I went out into my garden to say good-bye to my flowers.
My daisies were at thier last bloom and so I decided to cut some to take along with me to enjoy in my trailer.

I put them in a very large old Ball canning jar. I tied fabric strips around the neck and placed them in my yellow and white enamal-ware basin.

Hhhmmmm...needed something else.

I went out in my trailer and brought the lemons I had packed to make fresh lemonade back into my kitchen.

Oh yeah!...that did the trick.

Pure sunshine in a jar.
Sun-shiny...lemony...daisies.
I carried my new centerpiece back out to the trailer and secured it carefully for the long ride.

Then I rushed back in the house and downloaded the photos I took just so that I could show you this one last thing that I put in my trailer....
I gotta go!
Mr. Honey is calling....
"Wifey!...(yes, he calls me wifey.)...lets hit the road!".....

Getting the trailer ready...

We will be leaving for Fish Lake, which is here in Utah early in the morning. It's about a 4 hour drive from where we live.
I am checking things off my list as I put them in the trailer. ...and when I say "I" ....I really mean my kids!
I put everything on my kitchen table as remembered to load and they are my carriers!
I thought I would show you a few things I am taking.

These are books that I just picked up at the local Barnes & Noble to take.
As they are both about trailers and camping I thought they were the perfect choice.
It's killing me to wait until I get there to peruse them...but I did open "My Cool Caravan" long enough for a little sneak peek...and to snap the above pictures.

I will be taking this large vintage tablecloth....isn't it sweet? Does anyone remember these?
It's made from terry cloth and I don't think it's ever been used. I found it last week when I found my egg holder while thrifting.

We take these vintage tins every year....loaded with crayons.
I started this tradition several years back....this is what I do.....
I keep a big selection of coloring books in the trailer....and as I have told you before, we go with the same friends (several families) every year....and everyone of all ages colors at least one coloring book page while we are there.
I make sure they sign their page along with the year and I keep them in my trailer.
It's fun for all of us to look back on the pages every year!
My little vintage match holder goes out there.....looks like it needs a fill up!

I found these little cuties last month during another treasure hunt. $1.99 a pair at the thrift store...love it!
I knew they would go perfectly out there in the trailer.

This is a set I usually take. It's not vintage but I still love it! Quirky little S&P shakers are fun to put on the table during our potluck dutch-oven dinners.

I always take my cute little vintage fan along....sometimes it's needed for a bit in the hot afternoon if there is no breeze.
Hey girls...I said I was going camping...I didn't say I was roughing it! (my trailer does have a bathroom, shower, fridge and a cute little double sink!)
I just plug the fan in when we are going somewhere with electrical hook-ups..... but when we aren't....Mr. Honey turns on the generator for me.
Yes....Mr. Honey is a good man to have around...especially when camping.
At night when it gets cold...(as it always does in the mountains)...we have a heater and plenty of quilts to make our bed comfy cozy warm.
Mr. Honey and I have spent lots of enjoyable hours fixing up our trailer. I love it! It's just like playing house!

We keep lots of games in our trailer and play them often...Racko, UNO and Phase 10 are a few favorites. I found another set of Old Phase 10 cards at the same thrift shop last week for 50 cents....not a card missing and even still had the instructions.

But our very favorite card game to play is Hand & Foot. You just need 6 decks of cards to play it....(and some good snacks)!
This year Mr. Honey and I are heading up a tournament (double elimination) for all those 18 and up. I'll tell you how it went when I get back....we are a pretty competitive bunch!

Even though I love all things vintage....I also love new technology!
As a family....we always listen to books on CD on the drive there and back.
This trip we will be listening to these 3. I've heard fabulous things about this series.

Of course....I also have my kindle to take. I have downloaded a few new books for my own reading time....if I get any!...if I do, I'm prepared.

I also made 4 batches of these...."Hello Dolly's" to take.
I made these the first trip we went on and everyone there insists that I keep up that tradition too!
My sisters and I would make these alot while we were still at home and they are still one of my favorites to take camping!
I took pictures when I made them and when I get back I will share the recipe and a tutorial with you....

Vintage Monday - a timely find!...

Last week while I was out doing a little thrifting... I found this little cutie.

Do you have a good guess as to what it is?

A groovy red plastic bubble purse?.....

I'll give you a few hints.
It has to do with these two farmyard friends on my kitchen table.....and....
there are 1 dozen bubbles....

It's a cute little vintage egg holder. I already have another one just like it for a long time and I have always wanted to find another one....so I guess it was my lucky day because there it was on the shelf at DI for 50 cents...love it!
I will use it in my little trailer along with the one I already have.
Now I can take 2 dozen eggs in vintage style!

Aren't those little eggs just the cutest in there?

They look so cozy in thier new home.....all ready for a camping trip.

And that's eggs-actly where they're going! I am right in the middle of loading up my trailer for our annual Fish Lake trip. Oh...how I love summer....

It's a Parade!...

The photo above is of me and 2 of my older sisters Debbie and Carolyn and 2 of my younger brothers Morgan and Brian. We are waiting for the parade to start.....and just like back then...
I'm in the mood for a parade! I'm mainly in the mood because tomorrow is a holiday here in Utah.

It's Pioneer Day! This is the day that we celebrate our pioneer ancestors entrance into the Salt Lake Valley on July 24th, 1847. It was a long long hard trek (more than 1300 miles) across the prairies for them. They came to flee persecution and to gain religious freedom. Many lost loved ones or thier own lives on the pioneer trail.
Some came in covered wagons, some pulled handcarts and some walked every mile.
Both mine and Mr. Honey's ancestors were among those early pioneers that came across the plains and we are proud to honor them.

Downtown Salt Lake City always kicks off the celebration with the Day's of '47 Parade.
Mr. Honey will be in it this year running along side one of our church's float entry's called "The Spirit of Service"...entry #29. They asked him to be the float doctor and to be ready to fix anything that might go wrong. See... I'm not the only one that knows he can fix anything!
He helped build the main structure of the float by welding it all together. The float is 33 feet long and has an airplane that flys up and down...it's awesome! ...and huge...and has a built in ipod to make the airplane sounds! If you live in Utah...watch him on TV tomorrow and cheer him on! Better yet, if you're lucky enough to be at the parade...spray him down with water when he comes by...it's going to be 100 degrees!

In the small town where I grew up, we always had a parade every summer as part of a celebration of the founding of our town. We all looked forward to it every year and everyone in the town participated in one way or another. Every year we made a float for the parade. Dad would build the base and Mom would decorate it with the help of Grandma and sometimes my Aunts if they weren't making thier own that year. Mom would pick one or two of us kids to ride on the float that year according to the parade theme. She would sew us costumes to wear while riding.

Our Town Days celebration was always called Herriman Homecoming and still is today! Two girls were chosen to carry the banner that followed the Parade Master. He carried the flag while riding his horse. We would stand and salute the flag while singing the National Anthem as he rode by. Afterward...the he would show off the new tricks he had taught his horse throughout that year!...this would kick off the parade!

Remember this picture of me from an earlier post? I'm not so happy here....

My oldest sister Debbie could not pull the float fast enough to please me...

So our ever helpful neighbor Evelyn stepped in to lend a helping hand!...she is still a sweetheart and as helpful as ever!

That's much better...I'm happy once again!

One year my Mom made this float for me and my little brother Morgan to ride on...she was inspired by an incident earlier that year when I had taken her sewing scissors and cut off all his hair...not mine...just his! (I'm no dummy).I remember that by the end of this parade we were both asleep.

No small town parade would be complete without the cubscouts!

Check out these pink tumbleweeds...with glitter!

Obviously we always have a western theme...check out Billy the Kid.(and those bell-bottoms...lol)

The parade is always a good way to show off your little sister.

And always...there are marching girls in shorts singing and doing actions to a song....check out the white gloves!...We were called "The Herrimanettes"...and I'm the 2nd one in from this side wearing blue shorts and ponytails.

Our parents sometimes would hop on for a hayride down Main Street...that's my Dad in the white shirt sitting next to what appears to be half of my Mom! Don't you just love that women wore dresses everyday back then...even on a hayride!

This is one of my younger brothers Brian and my cousin Scottie....you will see in coming pictures that a cowboy hat was a necessary thing for every boy in the parade.

When we weren't taking our turn riding on the float...my sisters and I would decorate our bikes and ride them in the parade. This is 2 of my older sisters Tammy and Carolyn.

In this parade...I'm in the pink shorts and pink hair bows...(I always had to match my barrettes or bows to my pants or skirt)
....I used to drive my Mom totally crazy with my obsession about "the right color"

Every boy in town would jump at the chance to ride a horse or a pony in the parade.

And if you owned a good pair of Clydesdale draft horses... you wouldn't even think of leaving them in the barn!
Can you see who's heading up the rear of the parade?

Yep...it's the Sanitation Crew ...aka the "pooper scoopers".
My brother Morgan is pushing the wheelbarrow while my cousin Jamie does the scoopin!

For those of you who are still with me...thank you so much for sharing a stroll down memory lane with me.....oh ....and have a happy 24th blogettes...where ever you are!
