Paper Dolls Block Complete!

Oh Yay- goody gumdrops and all that stuff! I can show you my paper dolls block now. The first class was today and I am so looking forward to adding clothes with little tabs and accessories around the dolls throughout the applique club.
I'm teaching it at Material Girls and Nadine has the cutest fabrics and trims to use in this quilt. It's gonna be fun fun fun!
This is the first doll named after my daughter, Kassidy Grace. Of course everyone in the club will name their own paperdolls whatever they would like, I will provide them with an alphabet.

Kassidy paper doll is a girly girl and loves jewelry, lip-gloss and nail polish. (just like the real Kass)

She keeps her wardrobe very organized and always wears the correct panties on the correct day of the week.

She polishes her toenails every three days just like clockwork. While she is polishing she is either on the phone with her best friend Sophie or listening to her favorite records and singing along.

Kassidy paper doll loves all kinds of flowers and has groovy flower wallpaper in her room. She likes to make things and decorate her bedroom.

She has very long, very curly and very thick hair that she tries to remember to put in braids every night before bed or else it will be full of tangles by morning. She also likes to read before she falls asleep, so after her Dad tucks her in, she uses a flashlight and reads under the covers.

The second paper doll is named after my little grandaughter Sophie Belle. The real Sophie is only 2 1/2 months old now, so I am only guessing what she might look like and be like.

Sophie paper doll doesn't enjoy nail polish so much, only on special occasions. She likes to climb trees and she recently took a little spill while roller skating. Ouch.

The only jewelry she likes to wear most of the time is her roller skate key around her neck. Her Mom makes her wear a barrette to keep her hair out of her eyes.
Suprisingly, Sophie is very particular that her barrette matches her outfit. Sophie is an artist and color is important to her.

When it comes to clothes, she's a no frills kind of girl.

Sophie is a bit of a tomboy and loves to play outside with her best friend Kassidy who lives on the same street. They are both 10 years old and in the same class at school.

Sophie loves to collect butterflies and draw them. After she draws them, she paints them in bright colors.

Sophie is a little chatterbox and likes to make people laugh. Her Dad calls her "freckles" because her cheeks are kissed by the sun.

The adventures have now begun......

  21. Oh Lori, these are just wonderful! I loved the part about reading by flashlight under the covers...just like my sister & I used to do with our Nancy Drew books. LOL Your description of Sophie is so much like my own granddaughter who is a true tomboy. Your work on these is super!

  24. I have been reading your site since I did a Google search on antique crochet hot pads and it sent me to you. We have many of the same interest-- you just have talent as well. Lots of talent!

On Tuesday your Catching up post showed a picture of a craft friend modeling a yellow apron (right before the Better Homes and Gardens 1932 cover) can you perhaps tell me what pattern she used for it? My deceased mommy used to have one like that and I would love to sew one for my sister.

I read 20 or so blogs, but when I see that you have a post I get all excited and save it for last. It is that good! Thanks!

  27. I really wish I lived close enough to join your club! (Well that, and that it somehow miraculously only met when my husband was able and willing to watch the kids...and that I had the money and skills...)

    You create such neat patterns!

  30. As a retired teacher I love that you chose 10 year olds. Fifth grade girls are truly delightful, well, except when they are having a falling out with a best friend!

Paperdolls were my favorite childhood past time, right up there with reading for hours, jumping rope, skinning up my knees skating and falling off my bike. Just in case it doesn't sound like I liked those things, still cherish the scars on my knees.

Would love to buy a pattern for this quilt if it is available! Jo
