I'm teaching it at Material Girls and Nadine has the cutest fabrics and trims to use in this quilt. It's gonna be fun fun fun!
This is the first doll named after my daughter, Kassidy Grace. Of course everyone in the club will name their own paperdolls whatever they would like, I will provide them with an alphabet.
Kassidy paper doll is a girly girl and loves jewelry, lip-gloss and nail polish. (just like the real Kass)
She keeps her wardrobe very organized and always wears the correct panties on the correct day of the week.
She polishes her toenails every three days just like clockwork. While she is polishing she is either on the phone with her best friend Sophie or listening to her favorite records and singing along.
Kassidy paper doll loves all kinds of flowers and has groovy flower wallpaper in her room. She likes to make things and decorate her bedroom.

The second paper doll is named after my little grandaughter Sophie Belle. The real Sophie is only 2 1/2 months old now, so I am only guessing what she might look like and be like.
Sophie paper doll doesn't enjoy nail polish so much, only on special occasions. She likes to climb trees and she recently took a little spill while roller skating. Ouch.
The only jewelry she likes to wear most of the time is her roller skate key around her neck. Her Mom makes her wear a barrette to keep her hair out of her eyes.

Suprisingly, Sophie is very particular that her barrette matches her outfit. Sophie is an artist and color is important to her.
Just amazing! I love all of the little details...everything is so cute!

ReplyDeleteI {love love love} this quilt! Maybe that's because I love all things paper doll... or maybe because it could possibly be your cutest quilt ever! I am excited to follow Kassidy and Sophie's friendship!

Oh Lori, these are just wonderful! I loved the part about reading by flashlight under the covers...just like my sister & I used to do with our Nancy Drew books. LOL Your description of Sophie is so much like my own granddaughter who is a true tomboy. Your work on these is super!
ReplyDeleteReally enjoyed this post ~ lovely needle work!
ReplyDeleteAs always your attention to detail is stunning and some of it surprising. Your ideas from head to paper to fabric are just incredible. Well done, of course!
ReplyDeleteI have been reading your site since I did a Google search on antique crochet hot pads and it sent me to you. We have many of the same interest-- you just have talent as well. Lots of talent!
ReplyDeleteOn Tuesday your Catching up post showed a picture of a craft friend modeling a yellow apron (right before the Better Homes and Gardens 1932 cover) can you perhaps tell me what pattern she used for it? My deceased mommy used to have one like that and I would love to sew one for my sister.
I read 20 or so blogs, but when I see that you have a post I get all excited and save it for last. It is that good! Thanks!
Adorable!! The detail is amazing!! Takes me back to my childhood!!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this! Will it be available as a pattern or a kit? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI really wish I lived close enough to join your club! (Well that, and that it somehow miraculously only met when my husband was able and willing to watch the kids...and that I had the money and skills...)
ReplyDeleteYou create such neat patterns!
So cute! I love it! Your doll really did remind me of Kassidy before I saw that you named her.
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely the cutest thing I've seen in a LONG time! And every stitch is perfect!
ReplyDeleteAs a retired teacher I love that you chose 10 year olds. Fifth grade girls are truly delightful, well, except when they are having a falling out with a best friend!
ReplyDeletePaperdolls were my favorite childhood past time, right up there with reading for hours, jumping rope, skinning up my knees skating and falling off my bike. Just in case it doesn't sound like I liked those things, still cherish the scars on my knees.
Would love to buy a pattern for this quilt if it is available! Jo
Oh, brings back so many memories. I too would love to buy the patter.
ReplyDeleteYou do such beautiful work
