My brothers used to have a truck like it and seeing it brought back a piece of my childhood to me!
I brought it home....(big suprise huh)...and now that Christmas has come around...I thought I would use it in my decorations. So I strapped on a freshly cut pine tree (from Michaels)...and brought it home for decorating....LOL
Does anyone else have fond memories of "bringing home the tree?"
Today I'm showing you the tree in my family room...
As you can see....I like my trees stuffed to the brim with all different kinds of ornaments.
As you can see....I like my trees stuffed to the brim with all different kinds of ornaments.
I have 3 different garlands and a variety of one of a kind ornaments too...all with a vintage flair and things that bring back wonderful Christmas memories from my childhood.
Such as this Toy Shop from the Island of Misfit Toys from "Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer" television special. Us kids looked forward to watching it every year!
Vintage reproduction ornaments...
Snow globes are a favorite of mine...
And of course....I can't have a childhood memory tree without the leg lamp from "The Christmas Story"....you'll shoot your eye out!....LOL
I found 3 of these snowman at a little 5 and dime drugstore several years ago....I think they look very vintage!
Old tin toy replica's that one might have found under the tree in days gone by....like this blue pedal car.
Candy canes...snowflakes...flocked ornaments and glittered balls.
You know by now that I love snowmen!
Whoops....double shot loaded.
Anything Coca-Cola goes with vintage Christmas decor... as far as I'm concerned!
Cinderella's glass slipper....it hangs on a battery operated ornament turner and slowly spins round and round on the tree....Sophie Belle is really fascinated by it....she points to it and says "shoe!"
Of course I would have a sock monkey sitting in the tree ...you know how I love them!
And a guitar....for Mr. Honey's childhood memories...he got his first guitar for Christmas when he was a boy and each one of our kids have received thier first guitars on Christmas too.

An old pedal airplane toy...
Another guitar...this one a red electric Fender...pom-pom garland...Santa ornaments and "Silver Bells".
Another garland made with shiny metal discs...very retro 1950's....and more candy canes and glittered balls.
The red glittered tree topper is a Martha Stewart vintage reproduction....the perfect finishing touch:)
I could show you more and more ornaments but this post is already too long!
We put the tree behind our sofa and in front of the french doors that lead out to the back yard...we don't use them in December.
Our family room is a nice cozy place to gather and watch a movie...read...or as you can see my 13 yr. old....it's a nice place to do your homework!
More Christmas decor to come tomorrow!...for those of you who made it this far thru the many pictures of my tree...I thank you from the bottom of my heart and I hope you enjoyed it!

What a gorgeous tree. Mine looks pretty bleak in comparison. LOL.
ReplyDeleteLove the Truck, bringing home the tree. All the vintage-y stuff is so cool! I enjoyed seeign your tree. I have several trees 2-6ft and 4 mini trees, up in my Living room this year, a first for me. Usually one is enough. They have to be fake :( Dh is allergic to the real smell of the pine trees. Darn.
ReplyDeleteLovely tree! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful tree full of so many wonderful memories...Love it!
ReplyDeleteHand me a quilt, because I want to sit down on the couch and have some girler time. Thanks for making me feel like I'm there with you.
ReplyDeleteMiss you!
I DID enjoy it! I love your tree - it's beautiful and whimsical and so, so Christmasy!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. Love the truck and tree. All of your ornaments bring back so many sweet Christmas memories. You can never have too many pictures, keep them coming.
ReplyDeleteOh Lori, your tree is right up our alley. We collect antiques and vintage ornaments are my moms. About 20 years ago I had a tree decorated in my store window full of vintage ornaments and when I closed my store I sold that tree and all its ornaments to a crafty lady. I could just kick myself now.. We have a red ford pick up dated 1949. We drive all around Ontario with our friends antiquing.
ReplyDeleteYou can check them out on my blog under the heading Antiquing. Have a Merry Christmas. Thanks for the memories. Oh we also have that leg lamp hanging off our truck mirror.
Love it all! Just charming. Can't wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love your tree! It's just what a tree should look like :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing it ALL, Lori. You brought back a flood of memories for me - grandfather had a red truck, too; I had a blue pedal car; lots of vintage reproduction ornaments like my grandmother had..... Sigh!
ReplyDeleteLove the truck with tree...and your family room tree with all of the amazing ornaments. Your family room looks so wonderful and cozy!

ReplyDeleteNow for the big ???? my grandsons were sitting here checking out all the pics and they spotted that red and white puff ball garland and now they want to make one for our tree so can you tell me what it is made of. I always love making things that the kids are ready to jump into and help with the creativity.
Your blog has really filled my holiday mood with tons of ideas so thank you so very much for sharing.
I did indeed enjoy the trip around your Christmas tree! Have a Merry Christmas, Lori!
