Well hello again!...are you ready for another easy corner triangle tutorial?
I sure hope so because that's what I've got for you today....
so sharpen your pencils and start
your rotary cutters !
This block is made up of rectangles and squares.
I think it's a really
fun and easy block to make
I think it's a really
fun and easy block to make
with this method.
First cut 8 - 2" x 3 1/2" rectangles.
Then cut 16 - 2" squares that will become the triangles on each end of the rectangles.
Lay out the pieces on your design board the way you would like to sew them together.
Then cut 16 - 2" squares that will become the triangles on each end of the rectangles.
Lay out the pieces on your design board the way you would like to sew them together.
It takes one rectangle and 2 squares for
each segment.
You know the drill by now...place a square on each end of the rectangle with right sides together and stitch from corner to corner.
This block is easy but can be
a little tricky...
if you don't pay attention which direction that you are stitching from
corner to corner...
make sure that you refer to a picture
or your drawing often to
keep from making mistakes...
Notice that you do need to sew half in the opposite direction
in order for the block to work.
Fabric Used:
Red Dot = Sew Cherry
Red Floral = New Old Lecien
Pink Dot = Japanese
Pink Floral = Simply Sweet
White = Nantucket Summer
Okay...there you go.
Another easy method to sew an otherwise
difficult block.
Are you still interested in more
block tutorials?
Let me know:)
xx

I NEEEEEED and appreciate and can't say enough about your tutorials!
My FWSQ book finally arrived!!!
Oh my gosh! I couldn't (wouldn't) do this without you "teaching" me! I'll tell you what I'm doing - I'm creating a book with your tutorials - printing everything out...even your cute comments! I'm drawing out blocks etc. to show "clothesline stitch" etc.! I'm also doodling bees with smiley faces!!!
I'm going to make your design boards also...I'm treating this as a "education" on piecing and you are my teacher!!!
I'm so excited about this whole learning experience and it means so much to me that you are so generous with your time and knowledge!!!
Thank you!
PS Have you thought about making a book???
There are great cookbooks out now with a page of small photos for every recipe (Jamie Oliver, Tiffany Goodall)...a tutorial book on piecing with your photos etc. would be amazing!!! I would buy it immediately!!! Just sayin you have so much talent it would be great!
Lori -
ReplyDeleteI'd be lost by now without your tutorials. Please, please keep them coming.
Thanks,
SallySews
You have shared so much with us and I don't know how to thank you enough. Thank you for each tutorial!! :o)
ReplyDeleteThank you again Lori! Very informative tutorials.
ReplyDeleteI just found SEW CHERRY at Fat Quarter Shop! I got a $25 Gift Cert from being a Finalist in the McCall's Quilt Design Contest and I spent it all on SEW CHERRY!!! Now I'm watching for the UPS or Mailman again...
ReplyDeleteThank you for the tutorials and please continue to post them. I started the FW blocks only to find that they were all too small -in fact it was this ribbon block that finally made me realize my templates were off. I'm starting over using your rotary cutting directions and I know it is going to be much much better!
ReplyDeleteI love your tutorials so much! They also inspire me to keep going with my blocks. There are some blocks that I have started to draw on graph paper but really can't figure out how to do them. Your tutorials are a tremendous help and have made this journey a lot of fun! Thank you ♥
ReplyDeleteYes please to more tutorials. Every time I see a block and think I couldn't ever make it, you do a tutorial and it suddenly seems easy! Amazing! Inspired by you, I made my first block (http://sandra-cherryheart.blogspot.com/2011/07/adventures-in-quilting.html) the other day, although it doesn't use easy triangles it was still your tutorials that made me even think of attempting it!!
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, yes, love the tutorials. I especially love getting them in emails so that I can save them in a folder for later reference. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
ReplyDeleteI quick corner everything possible. It is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI'm not doing the sew along, but I thought I'd let you know that I just enjoy stopping by and seeing your blocks sitting on their sweet little design boards. Lots of lovely eye candy and I learn a thing or two along the way :)
ReplyDeleteYou ought to contact craftsy.com and offer to teach a class. You are very thorough. Thanks.
