Yay!!!!...I have a new fabric line coming out!
My new line was inspired by
circles, doilies, crochet,
the 60's (when I was born)
and of course...embroidery.
I learned how to embroider when I
was 6 years old...
and so I have been having
an ongoing love affair
with stitching ever since:)
Introducing

Riley Blake Designs
I just have 2 yards of precuts to
start designing with and to
get working on a few new patterns!
It's always soooo hard for me
to cut into my pre yardage because
I'm afraid I will run out
before my bolts of the
fabric line get here...
which will be in about 3 weeks!
YIKES!!!
Here are my 2 yard cuts
in a nice little stack
in my front room.
I am missing the 4 solids
that have not arrived yet.
The solids are
red, aqua, gray and white.
Total number of fabrics in
Polka Dot Stitches...
28
including solids:)
Red/Pink/Gray
colorway
By the way...
the circles on this print each
measure 2 1/2" across:)
Aqua/Yellow/Gray
colorway
Gray/AppleGreen/White
colorway
I'm really excited about
these 3 "words" prints that
I designed to go in the line.
First I drew up diagrams
for common embroidery stitches ...
(just like they used to put
in the iron on embroidery patterns)
And then I added words that
have to do with stitching.
(vintage embroidery stitching
and crochet stitches:)
I think these "word" prints will
make fun backgrounds!
I currently have them all rolled up and waiting to be played with.
They are waiting impatiently...
inside my cute new aqua utility cart!
I picked it up from IKEA while
there last month...
lucky me...
I have an IKEA 10 minutes
from my house:)
As you can see from the
quilt hanging on the wall...
(Vintage Dishes - made with Sew Cherry)
Polka Dot Stitches fits in rather nicely
with my other fabric lines.
I have 4 new quilts drawn up along with
2 other quilty patterns....
I will start cutting into it
first thing Monday morning!!!
I'd love to hear how you feel
about my new line....
I hope you like it and that you want
to play with Polka Dot stitches too!
I love hearing from you and
I read each and every comment with
a smile on my face...thank you so much for all of your kind words!!!
Until then...
have a quilty kind of day!
xx
Lori
Oh I love it! It reminds me of So Cherry but so fresh!!,
ReplyDeleteThey are delicious looking, especially the green and gray. Yum!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats.......
Live it, especially the word prints. Looking forward to seeing it in your new patterns. Congratulations on the new line. hugs
ReplyDeleteLove them all! My favorites are the text prints and the circles because I can use the stitch instructions to add some embroidery accents on the circles. :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome job with this line, as always!
I LOVE your Polka Dot Stitches! I will be purchasing the blue/yellow colorway first... :-) I'm still working with "Millie" for my great granny wall hanging -- and "she" is keeping me happy while I've been waiting for your new line. So cute! :-)
ReplyDeleteYikes! I'm having palpiitations! I LOVE.....LOVE this!
ReplyDeleteLOve, love love the new line. I can see a quilt in my future. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteblessings to you.
ALL so gorgeous! Especially love the apple green and the text!
ReplyDeleteLove this line Lori!!!! This is definitely going on my HAVE TO HAVE list! Great job.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Every Wednesday I get together with some older aunts, cousins, etc, and quilt or do handwork. We just started this week on a chicken scratch pillow. I am so excited to start but living in Vernal there isn't much choice when it comes to gingham. I am anxiously waiting the time I can get to a store to get some red gingham and get started. Love your vintage lines.
ReplyDeleteCute, cute, cute! I may have to buy a entire bolt of the grey words prints. That's how much I LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteYour new line is absolutely adorable! :0)
ReplyDeleteWhat I love so much about your fabric lines is how deeply personal each design is to you. The story you tell for your reasons behind why you chose that image. It tugs at my heart and I am drawn to them even more. :0)
Oh, be still my heart! I can't believe how beautiful it is. Well, I can believe it because you designed it! I love the embroidery/vintage words fabric, it is so different. The colors do match "sew cherry" perfectly. I have sew much "sew cherry" but am afraid to cut into it, I love it so much! Do you think I may have a problem? lol I just can decide which I like best, Vintage Dishes or Cake Walk. I need a quilting retreat with you and then I will be cured :) You have outdone yourself on your new line Lori :)
ReplyDeleteI have loved all your previous ranges and this new one looks fabulous too .. all my favourite colours. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteWow, Polka Dot Stitches is another winner! I love the color combinations in this line, especially the apple green and gray and those "word" prints are the best. Can't wait until it's available for purchase. Looking forward to your new quilts and things...
ReplyDeleteOh Lori, this line is so cute. I particularly love the word fabric. I love to add words to my quilts whenever I can.
ReplyDeleteThe fabric is so yummy!! The green apple is my favorite but then again...hmmm.. I like them all.. :)
ReplyDeleteThey are all just wonderful, but the Apple & Grey reminds me of my gr.grans apron and pie baking day with the Granny Smith apples from the orchard.
ReplyDeleteOh my...l o v e this fabric...I am a total fan..love the word prints and the circles and the gingham and well everything..
ReplyDeleteMary
I was a young girl in the 60's too. I remember those stitch guidelines. Sign me up for a set of the 5" squares. You are always so generous! I'll be watching to see what you make from this NEW line. My favorite is the one that looks like eyelet around the circles. I can't choose just one favorite colorway.
ReplyDeleteIt is so cute! Love the Red, and will have those text embroidery prints in every color!!
ReplyDeleteLove polka dots - LOVE Polka Dot Stitches! Very beautiful colors Lori.
ReplyDeleteI just love your color combos!! And those text fabrics?! Amazing!!! I can't wait to play see these fabrics in person!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful line. I love the colors and how they blend well with your other line.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, this is so weird. I was just thinking the other day about designing a quilt.. although I am NO designer. My idea was grandmas hankies, and doilies. You know how they always crocheted around the edges? Well I wanted to do Half circles on the edges in a color in a big circle, then put a smaller circle inside that. If you do a blanket stitch around the outside of the smaller circle LARGE, it would look like it was crocheted on. (You can have my idea if you like it). I'm no designer. But I wanted the quilt to look like Grandma's hankies and doilies, and look here you are doing it!! Magic I say!
ReplyDeleteI'm a new(ish) follower and I just have to say that I absolutely LOVE this line! I've been searching for a line that gets me inspired enough to learn to quilt and I think this just might be it.
ReplyDeletePolka Dot Stitches looks like it will be a lot of fun to sew with! I love the "word" prints and that you mentioned the iron-on embroidery patterns! I remember those! I always wanted to try them when I was a kid! My grandmother let me once and I was so excited to do it myself I put the hot iron on her plastic, foam-backed table cloth! (Remember those?) I was horrified, but she never got mad, and the next day she had place mats on the table that looked suspiciously like that burned tablecloth ;). Lord only knows how long it took her to get that stuff cleaned off her iron. Your blog and your Pinterest pins bring back so many memories. It's a lot of fun to look back and see things from childhood, especially the things that my grandmother may have also made or had in her house. I love your blog!
ReplyDeleteThe new line is so beautiful, can't wait to get the word prints!!
ReplyDeleteI just love your new fabric range. I'll definitely be keeping my eye out for it. Congratulations on the new range.
ReplyDeleteFantastic! It is fresh and fun! I love the text print...very clever and a great scale.
ReplyDeleteI always love what you design so it's no surprise to me that your newest is just as pretty as the others. I've got a bundle of your Sew Cheery that I just can't cut into...it's so very fresh and clean looking! Keep up the good work, your fabrics inspire us. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI love it. Of course I loved your last one so much I haven't cut into it yet. Can't wait for this one.
ReplyDeleteWhile I don't have a love affair with embroidery, I do have a love affair with polka dots and love the text print. *swoon* I love your new fabric line. So gorgeous, and red is my all time favorite color! This line will be on my wish list for sure. :o)
ReplyDeletexo
WORDS! I LOVE words! Thank you, thank-you, thank you.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on a fun fabric line! You did good... nope GREAT! I'm not sure which colorway I like best but I think it may be the green/gray/white, or perhaps the aqua/yellow/gray, but the red/pink/gray is quite fun too and I'm sure my granddaughter would love it too.
ReplyDeleteWORDS! I LOVE words. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
ReplyDeletePerhaps this is your best line yet!! Love the words fabric and the cute doilies dearly!
ReplyDeleteLove this line! Beautiful! Thank you so much!

ReplyDeleteThis is, for sure, my very favorite. I'm having visions of what to make out of it.

ReplyDeleteI also learned how to embroider as a little girl and have loved it ever since. I now have grand-daughters of my own, and one is especially interested in hand stitching. In fact, that pink doily print would be a perfect "cheater" fabric for her to practice on :)
I love the new line!!! I am sooooo going to make a quilt with this fabric. Growing up, my sister did embroidery all the time! I was always jealous of her skill with the needle and thread. I would love to make a quilt for her using some of the fabric explaining the embroidery stitches! I think she would get a kick out of it.
ReplyDeleteWow I love it! Especially the green colorway.
ReplyDeleteI love this line, soooo cute! Can't decide which color way is my favorite, maybe the green... Thanks for sharing and for a great giveaway.

I adore your new line, especially the reds! I have a quilt going in my head and I was looking for the right fabrics for the "look" I was after. Your new fabrics fit perfectly! The text is so fun! It could be a great background piece or fussy cut for detail work. Look forward to seeing it in stores!
ReplyDeleteI love your new line of fabrics. They remind me of when I was first married and started having my family. Since I am a "red/pink" person, I especially enjoy those along with the green which appears to be a real green. You design many beautiful patterns and fabrics. Thanks!!!!
ReplyDeleteLori, I don't know how you do it but you always seem to design fabrics that so remind me of my youth. They have such beautiful color combinations and make me feel so very cheery. It makes me imagine a beautiful farmhouse kitchen with all your fabrics adorning the table, chairs, curtains, potholders, and everything else. I know my mother and grandmother would also have loved them also. It's such a shame that you can't bring back some of your former fabrics so we could use them in conjunction with these. They all blend in so well. Thank you for such a super job. You have my vote when it comes to top creators of both fabric and patterns. Please keep the creative juices flowing for those less talented like myself.
ReplyDeleteOkay, now I want to go to Ikea and look at utility carts...and I definitely need the fabric with the stitchery diagrams. Wouldn't that make the most awesome sewing bag?
ReplyDeleteMy favorite prints are the roses and the doilies, especially those in the Gray/AppleGreen/White colorway and Aqua/Yellow/Gray
ReplyDeletecolorway ... with some of the red colorway as "pop" touches. I also like that the gingham style fabric is large checks and the stripe is all kinds of stitches.
All in all, I like the subdued vintage style of these prints.
I love the gray & green colorway best, but they are all awesome! Ronda
ReplyDeleteI think this is going to be a wonderful line of fabrics. I seem to collect polka dots whether I plan on it or not! I, too, think the word fabrics will be great. I also have a thing for text textiles. Eager to see them in person.
ReplyDeleteThis is a terrrific line and I can hardly wait for this to come out. I love all the colors. Would you make one easy quilt pattern for us confident beginners please, using some of the pre cuts? I plan to buy those. Thanks so much. I have already reserved a 10" through FQS.

ReplyDeleteI love your fabrics. I just ordered a bunch of your sew cherry line, and am waiting for it. Planning to make something to decorate my new house, kitchen and dinning room. Looking forward to doing something fun with this new line as well. It's easy to buy fabric, but to find the time to make something out of them is a lot harder.
ReplyDeleteI love love love your new polka dot line I can hardly wait to get my hands on it. Living up in Canada I have to buy on-line most of the time.I can think of a lot of projects to do with it. I will be waiting for what you come up with. Blessings Sandra
ReplyDeleteLike all the fabrics. Red is my favorite. I think I could defintly use a charm pack.
ReplyDeleteOh my word! You have done it again!!! I will be saving up to be able to buy this new fabric. I also love your pattens and follow you on pinterest!
ReplyDeleteThe red, pink and grey is so calling my name. I am thinking a nice wall hanging to go beside my sewing chair. Cant wait till the line is available.
ReplyDeleteYour line of fabrics are adorable. I just love circles and the words are perfect as background fabric. You are so clever.

Oh those L.O.V.E.L.Y. stitchy word prints are my favourite. But the circles/ flowers are a narrow second :o) That must be overwhelming to receive your own, freshly printed fabrics to work with! Have fun playing with these beauties. I'm curious what you have designed for Quilt Market!
ReplyDeleteHappy Sewing!
With fabric, I either love it or I don't. This I love! It just jumps out to me and screams "Make a quilt out of me!"
ReplyDeleteThis screams "Make me into a quilt!". I guess I have to now! Love it!
ReplyDeleteAnother adorable line! Congrats! Oh, your photos reminded me that I wanted to do the Vintage Dishes quilt. Oh, so many things to do!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rita in Calif
I love the fabrics. I'm a sucker for retro fabrics and the apple green colorway is so cute. I would love to play with them.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful fabric line; too cute.
ReplyDeleteLucky you to have an Ikea so close, I would be broke with a capital B if mine was only 5 minutes away.
I love your new fabric line, the colors and each design. I love embroidery also and grew up in the 60's.
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely colors. Guess I have to learn how to stitch now too :-).
ReplyDeleteLori it all looks absolutely stunning!!! Love the text prints, they would be great little zip purses to keep sewing supplies organised :)
