January is the month when we are always deep into
changing things up a bit in our little cottage....
Which is why you haven't heard much from me!
This year is Kassidy's room...
a total and complete redo.
It's been so fun and
I'll show you when it's complete!
But as you know...
I can't go too long without sewing:)
So when I havn't been at the home improvement store...
or had paint on my elbows... (hehe)...
I have found a few spare minutes here and there to
have a quilty kind of day:)
I have made 4 blocks so far in the
"Scrappy Trip Around the World"
It's an awesome tutorial and easy peasy!
Tutorial can be found HERE
I have been using 2 1/2" strips from
all of my fabric lines so far...
Sew Cherry
Daisy Cottage
Millie's Closet
Polka Dot Stitches
I still have quite a little pile
leftover from the
and when I saw the tutorial...
I knew it would be a perfect and
quick little project to use them all up.
There's not much planning or color coordinating in this scrappy quilt.
It's my favorite kind of sewing to do when I don't have to think much
and I just want to relax and unwind a bit while watching
and wearing my fuzzy socks and trying to keep warm.
The temperature here has been below freezing for the last 3 weeks:(
4 blocks are on my design wall now...
what's on yours?
Are you keeping warm?
I hope sew:)
xx
Lori
Ha, keeping warm! We (in Australia) are sweltering away here, 30+ degrees and fires everywhere - how I dream of snow and cooler temperatures...love the quilting too.
ReplyDeleteI have 6 scrappy trip alongs and 13 great granny squares (your tutorial!)
ReplyDeleteLove your scrappy trip along blocks!! I have 24 done and just love the process!! It is such a fun block to make. Oh, and Downton Abbey is a favorite of mine too!! :)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kerri
Trip alon blocks is on my to do list this year :o)
ReplyDeleteHere in Denmark we have snow and sunshine at the same time today. We had some were cold night the last few days, down to minus 17 degrees.
Have a nice day.
I love this and starting a pile of strips to use when I get to it. Still have leaves, mittens, and stars to do.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty fabrics in your Scrappy Tripalong. Oh, but I DON'T sew during Downton Abbey! It's my only "delicious" time during the week. That's when I snuggle up on the sofa in front of the TV because I don't want to miss a thing!
ReplyDeleteI was hoping you would join in the scrappy trip around the world. :0) I just knew yours would be super cute!!! :0) How fun to redo your daughters room! I bet Kassidy is so excited. :0) I have some hush hush sewing that I cant share but also made 12 scrappy trip blocks from left over Seaside fabric. I will show them soon. I wanted to wait until the rows are together. :0) Have a great weekend. Trish xo
ReplyDeleteI have my strips cut but haven't started sewing. I'm going to a sewing retreat in a few weeks and that is my project!
ReplyDeleteWhat's on my design wall? Same blocks in different fabrics. :) (Well, actually, they're in a box. I don't have a design wall. Yet.) It really is a great tutorial (thanks, Bonny!) and such a fun way to use absolutely ANY fabric hiding in your stash.
ReplyDeleteI love your blocks. I have been dying to do this scrappy trip along myself but have been busy helping out with a new grandchild :) I hope you can post about Kassidy's room redo!
ReplyDeleteKeep Very warm!! We are expecting temperature going down to negative 31 this Sunday.I just got some of your earlier prints for S' quilt. LOVE LOVE LOVE the green floral print. Your blocks look great!! I hope to make this quilt myself as well. Maybe after all my single girls done. :)
ReplyDeleteI only had 2 Great Granny Along blocks done before the Christmas rush came along. I have started cutting and getting some blocks ready to sew for that. Two, so far. Want to get quite a few ready so I can spend hours just sewing. I seem to either be in the mood to cut or to sew but never both in one day. Isn't that strange? Cold here in Michigan also. I finally hung a vinyl table cloth with the flannel to the outside on one of my walls so I had a larger area to use for a design wall. Do not know where or who's blog I read that on but it sure is working for me at the moment since I already had one for the kids Christmas table. Love your blocks!
ReplyDeleteSo very cute trips around the world. Most definitely on my to do list after I complete a couple of other things.
ReplyDeleteIsn't Downton Abbey the best for stitching and sewing!
Like Clare another Aussie here and yes we're still sweltering and unfortunate;y the bushfires are still happening. Started the scrappy trip around the world blocks up to number 20 and man are they ever addictive Happy decorating Maggie x
ReplyDeleteI love the fabrics you are using for this Scrappy Trip Around The World. I have 4 blocks on my design wall today also. These are so fun to make. It's cold here in Michigan and I understand going to get colder.
ReplyDeleteoh you almost have me convinced to make a tatw quilt too, love your blocks , hmmm maybe having red in the center all the time will just sparkle
ReplyDeletelove your fabrics they just say SPRING is coming!!!!
kathie where there is snow on the ground but they are saying almost 50 tomorrow!
Kathie
I love your blocks and can't wait to see Kassidys room!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, of course they would be using your very pretty fabrics! I can't wait to see Kassidys room. Where abouts in the US do you live? I can't imagine 3 weeks below freezing. In South Australia we've had a really hot summer with one rain event since September. It's so dry, which is why bushfires keep getting away and burning for days. I can't wait for autumn!
ReplyDeleteYou and me both. This is fun sewing. I love scraps. Yours is beautiful! What a great idea to put all your fabrics together. How big are you going to make it? Have fun with Kassidy's room. Yikes. Work!!
