I Heart Crochet Edge Pillowcases...

I've been making more pillowcases again...I just can't seem to stop myself from making more!

They are so easy and fun to make.... and even more fun to sleep on:)

I just can't help but to have sweet dreams when I sleep on a pillowcase with a crocheted edge:)

They are just one more thing on my list of really addicting things to make...

I find myself coordinating fabrics from my stash to make (just one more) pillowcase...

Fabrics that look dreamy and vintagey and flowery...you know what I mean?
The kind that you want to dream on:)

Well...last spring I made my very first one and it all started with Beata from Rosehip....the inspiration for all!

I mean come on girls...really...How could I resist?
Who wouldn't be inspired by all of this
Cassie from You Go Girl was also also inspired by Beata...enough to do a tutorial on the pillowcases and the crochet edge.
And that's when I started making them...way back then.
If you are inspired to make your own...go see Cassie and follow her fabulous tutorial here.
Oh and...Sweet Vintagey Dreams!!!

New Butterfly Tutorial...

Last summer I jumped on the bloggy bandwagon with what it seems like at the time everyone else and started making this butterfly quilt.

I cut fabrics that I love from my stash to use for the wings...

There are many different color combo's out there in bloggy land that you can look to for inspiration like here - here - here - here - here - and here.
As for my quilt...I chose to use gingham (my fave) for the butterfly body's and a solid brown for the background.

I really like how the brightly colored prints look against the dark brown...

This is how some of the butterflies look together on my design wall....I still have a ways to go because I'm making a twin size quilt.

The butterflies are fun and very addicting to make... it's hard for me to put them away when I have to because of deadlines that I must get to.

I followed the tutorial from the always inspiring Mrs. Schmenkman (her quilt pictured above) which is fabulous...and now even more fabulous is that she has written a new tutorial called "Charming Butterflies" that she has adapted for using charm squares.
Thanks so much Amy...it's awesome!
I thought you might be interested in seeing it.

So girls...if you havn't started your butterfly quilt yet ....and want to have some fun along with everyone else...
...go on over as fast as your cute little fingers can click and check out Amy's new tutorial here and start making your own butterfly quilt now! I promise you will love it:)

P.S. You can thank me for your new addiction later!

A YoYo MaMa Birthday...

Last week on my birthday it happened to be our YoYo MaMa's club meeting too!
We are doing a block exchange this year and here are some of the blocks that were brought to show...

As you can see it was a sunny day! (along with a crazy wind)...We always meet at our favorite...Material Girls and the classroom has the most amazingly large windows which I love!...it's so great to have natural light when choosing fabric don't you think?
We also had some fabulous quilts brought for show and tell...

Whoops...this one of Betty's was so amazing I showed it twice!

The fun didn't end after the meeting was over.
After all, it was my birthday!
Sooo...my girlfriends took me to lunch and to do a little shopping.
This is Beth and Shanna smiling for the camera...
And here we have Debbie who is checking out the new issue of Quilts and More...

I caught Judy unaware as she was making her purchase....

Because we all ran out of fabric in our stash and had to replenish our supplies...LOL...as if!

After eating lunch at Gardner Village we ended up here at Pine Needles for more shopping...and more fabric:)

They always have such fabulous displays!....I'm tellin you girls...eye candy everywhere!

After we were windblown and shopped out...my friend Wendy who works at Pine Needles took our picture.
I don't think there could have been a better way to spend the afternoon of my birthday...with friends and fabric.
I couldn't ask for more!

How is your week going girls?...are you running out of fabric and need to go buy more?
I thought sew:)

The First Cut is the Deepest...

Last week I took the Riley Blake ribbon off of my Fat Quarter bundle of "Sew Cherry" and laid them out on my cutting board...

I pressed each and every piece and marvelled at the fact that I was ironing my very own fabric for the very first time!...girls...I'm here to tell ya that dreams do come true:)

I was afraid and exited all at the same time to line up my ruler and slide my bling-ee red rotary cutter along the edge.
This is it ...the very first cut documented for you...my bloggy friends to share in my bliss.
Am I silly to make such a big deal about the first cut of my very first fabric line?

Probably.

But that's okay...I've always been known for my silliness...just ask my Mom...LOL:)

And the cutting continues...
