YaY!
Today is Wednesday and time for the
Quilty Barn Along!
This week is the #2 Silo Barn.
Isn't this Noteworthy fabric perfect?
It looks like a really cute "to do" list written all over the silo.
(I'm not endorsing graffiti on real silo's
...haha...only quilty ones)
I chose to make this barn in the color of
"Sweet Yellow Corn"
I designed this block for
my Sweet Yellow Corn barn...
and named it
"Chicken Foot"
Every farm should have
chickens and I wanted to
make a block to represent them...
they are scattering in all different directions!
Set aside 2 of the small white squares
and 2 small from the print fabrics.
Match up a white square with each piece of fabric according to size...
and make half square triangles using my
Chain piece for speed...
and then cut them apart.
Trim off the excess...
open them...
and press open or towards the print…
whatever mood you're in!
Make sure to use your design board to
lay out my Chicken Foot block like this...
it could get confusing if you don't:)
Pay attention to the direction that each chicken foot is pointing.
Start by sewing the
small HST together in sets of 2.
Press these seams open and all seams open throughout the block after this point.
Sew the sets of 2 to the
matching side of the large HST's
and on the end of the matching small or background square like this.
Then sew the matching segments
together until you have 4 squares.
Sew the squares together and your block is finished!
It should measure 6 1/2"
square at this point:)
Now build your barn around your block!
Yes...
I do realize that you
don't see very many whales on
a farm but I saw it in the window
and I just couldn't resist...Ha!
My Sweet Yellow Corn barn looks sew cute next to my John Deere Green barn:)
And now we have 2 Barns
with Quilty Barn Doors and a Silo:)
