We are making the

4-Patch Block background!
I detail all of the supplies

Today we are making the
PEONY BLOCK
Cutting each block is easy peasy
because of the sew along guide
that is provided for you.
Let's begin by making
the tip of the peony.
Sew these 3 together ...
Like this and press the seams open:)
It should now measure 3 1/2" square.
Now let's make 2 half square triangles
using the "I" square and
one of the "A" squares.
Trace your sewing lines
on the back of the "A" square.
After sewing cut between the lines)
Use the 3 1/2" Trim-It Ruler to trim them!
They should now each measure
3 1/2" square and seams pressed open.
Now we can sew the peony together
by adding the "H" and
sewing together like a 4-patch.
Press seams open.
And you can use your 6 1/2" Trim-It Ruler
to square it up if needed:)
Use your Seams Sew Easy Guide
or mark a line from corner to corner
on the back of the "B" squares.
We are going to add an
easy corner triangle onto
each side of the "J"
This should also now measure 3 1/2" square.
One side first then press seam open
so that you can add the other side.
Now trace a sewing line
onto the back of "D"
And add a small ECT onto
the bottom of the stem.
Trim off excess.
This time I pressed towards the ECT.
Now let's make the remaining
half square triangles for the leaves.
Trace your sewing lines onto
the back of the two "A" squares.
And match them up to the
"G" and "F" squares for sewing.
Once again...
use the 3 1/2" Trim-It Ruler
to trim them down to
3 1/2" square like this.
Press all seams open.
Now we can sew our peony together!
Sew two leaves together and add onto
the right side of the peony
and then sew the other two leaves together
like this and add to the stem.
Sew those two sections together
and you have your block!
View of the back of my peony:)
Now add the borders so that
we can make another cute quilty circle:)
Make the 4-Patch background block:)
Make your circle!
Let's prepare our block for appliqué!
Place your block like this
and use the lines on the
4-patch background for centering up.
Pin into place and the Sue Glue:)
Ready for applique!
Once again...after applique
trim it down to 14 1/2" square
using the 14 1/2" Trim-It Ruler.
Continue to line up the seams
in the block
with the lines on the rulers that
go both ways...straight and diagonal
for easy peasy centering!
And now we have 11 blocks completed!
Now one empty spot on my design wall is
just waiting to be filled up on Friday:)
I'll meet you right back here
on my blog this Friday for the
Chickadee Block tutorial...
xx
