Good morning cute people!
Today is Friday…
and you know what that means!
Time to grab your copy of
And turn to page 37:)
This is my farm girl block called
Grandma's Quilt
I designed it to be a simple block
that looked like something that
grandma would have made with leftover
fabric from sewing clothes for her family:)
There are so many possibilities using this block
in so many ways…
But my machine has been a little lonely this week
and I didn't get a chance to whip up a
Grandma's Quilt
project like I wanted to.
So I'm depending on all of you to
post your blocks on
in
scrappy happy farm girl style!
Don't forget to use the hashtag
#GrandmasQuiltBlock
so that I can see it:)
Speaking of farm girl style…
Don't you just love this stack of
a few of my farm girl vintage quilts
in the hayloft?
True farm girl style:)
Which leads us to our next block…
Haystack
I LOVE this block…
its simple and sweet and perfect for
busting your stash:)
When posting your block…
Please use the hashtag
#HaystackBlock
I used my Haystack block as
my starters and stoppers
project the entire time that
I was sewing the quilts for my book.
I used my scrappy stash baskets...
Cut a bunch of scrappy
strips and center squares...
Used my vintage muffin tin
to separate the sizes…
and put it next to my machine…
and started building Haystacks!
As my pile grew…
I stacked them into this
vintage Pyrex bowl:)
They eventually turned into
the borders and alternate
blocks for this quilt...
Scrappy Haystack Sampler
on page 132 of my book.
It's a nice queen size
and I love how it looks on my bed:)
I used several
12" farm girl blocks to alternate
between the haystack blocks...
If you are making my
Scrappy Haystack Sampler too…
here are just a few to choose from:)
There are 45 farm girl
blocks total in my book:)
YeeHaw!
Thanks for visiting with me
on this Farm Girl Friday!
Don't forget to visit
this weeks guest bloggers…
for the schedule:)
Have a farm girl kind of day!
xx

Lori, Hi happy girl.
I am always happy too. Guess what? every time you write "Good morning cute people" on your blog, it makes me laugh - because that is what I have been writing to my 92 year old parents every morning for the past 10 years. Or, "Hi cute Peoples"I am taking care of them for the past 3 years. long story. I am the luckiest daughter ever.
Anyway, I have your book, just have not make a single block yet. veddy baad veddy veddy baaaad
I love your adorable White machine. It looks sturdy and fancy. I have a White from the 80's and it is metal, but.... white. LOL
I have a ton of olden Singers, and my mom's Singer 316G from Germany 1954.
It is a tank and will sew concrete without a sniffle.
I hope you have a marv-tastic day dear.
Lori - it doesn't matter how many times I see pics of your beautiful quilts - each time my heart jumps with happiness and motivates me to keep sewing! You make the happiest, scrappy quilts I know of. I've been 'piecing' your fruit blocks from my scrap baskets and have been busy buying pillow forms - because I love how you make pillows from your wonderful blocks :)!
Oh my goodness! It looks perfect on your bed . . . how did you ever live without this. It is absolutely marvelous... perfection at it's best! I have such a great time, each time I visit, going through your photos is a charming adventure in beautiful fabrics and loveliness . . . my mind wanders with all kinds of thoughts that make me want to run . . . I say, RUN to my sewing machine:)
Have a wonderful weekend.
Your blogging sister,
Connie :)
SEW adorable Lori! Love your designs and your sweet cheerfulness! You always make my day! Happy Quilting! XOX Maryjane
Your blocks and projects are such an inspiration! I can't wait to play more with these lovely blocks, and that Haystack block will for sure be one of the blocks I'll play with in near future now that I finished my very first project using some of the yummy blocks from your book :o)
Wish you a great weekend :o)
Absolutely love your quilts and vintage style!
Hello there Lori. I'm a newcomer to your blog and oh so happy I found you. I am just learning to quilt & I love to make farmers market totes that are free style quilted. I found you thanks to my Mary Janes Farm magazine. I will be reading your blog from this day forward. When did you start your blog btw so I know how far back I need to go? I also love all things vintage and country. I am dying to try making that baby chick pillow that's in the intro of the August/September issue of the magazine. It's so cute! Any way I could get a pattern or a tutorial for it? If so, I'd be ever so happy & thankful. Anyway, looking forward to more cute stuff. Your new Pacific Northwest fan, Deb.
Just finished the cutest table runner using the Haystack blocs I've been making :o) Thanks again for the inspiration :-)
Lori-I am not sure how I found you (I think it was on Pinterest) and after a 15 year hiatus from quilting, your designs have renewed my passion for quilting. Although I have a very modern home, your designs just call to me. I just LOVE your Farm Girl Friday!! I wish I had seen all of this earlier so I could sew along but I still can...just belatedly. Thank you so much for all you do and I am excited to read through your past blog posts and I look forward to your future ones! Take good care!
