Are you ready to sew with me?

is convenient for you.
We are making the
How to Build a Scarecrow Quilt

The quilt is made with my fabric
collection called AUTUMN:)
I hope that you all have all
received your
fabric kits by now...
and that we are all ready to begin!!
If you still need one ...
just do a quick google search for

I detail all of the supplies
that you need to make the quilt in my
Bee Prepared post right here on my blog.

post which not only details
all of the supplies needed but
explains how this sew along works.

Remember that cutting each block is easy
because of the sew along guide
that is provided for you.
detailed for you in the
sew along guide for your convenience!
HAT Block
all cut and traced:)
READY - SET - SEW!!
After sewing... trim the seam allowances.
You will need to clip the
inner curves in the hat and band
and also the cleavage areas in the
bottom of the hat before turning.
Here's my shaped and pressed hat and hatband...
My hat is all ready for applique:)
Afterwards I'll press from the back and
then trim it down to
7 1/2" tall x 15 1/2" wide
so that it can be sewn into the quilt:)
Now let's make the Apples Block.
Mine is cut and traced and ready to sew.
*Take Note to press your stems in half
and glue them together.
Let's sew them!
After sewing...
trim the seam allowances.
You will need to clip the inner curves
in each apple before turning.
Turned - shaped and pressed.
Pin and Sue Glue each one by
using the 3 1/2" Trim-It Ruler
as your guide.:)
My apples are ready to be appliquéd.
Afterwards I'll press each from the back
and then trim them down to
3 1/2" x 3 1/2"
so that they can be sewn into the quilt:)
SHIRT Block
all cut and traced:)
There are a few things to detail
about preparing this block...
Trace one of the collar shapes
in reverse and add the
8" between the dashed lines
on the shirt shape as directed
so that it's as long as needed!
LET'S SEW!!
Before you sew the sleeves add the cuffs
to the bottom with a 1/4" seam allowance
and press open.
You can choose to make the stripes
horizontal or vertical...
they look cute either way!
Sew the rest of the shapes and
afterwards trim the seam allowances.
You will need to clip
inner curves
in the bottom of the shirt
and the curve on the back
of the collar
Shaped and pressed...
let's go lay out our block!
I thought it was easier to
start laying this block out upside down
so that I could see the collar area best.
I used my measuring tape for the
widest part of the block which is from
cuff to cuff and it measures
about 14 1/4" wide.
You will want them to fit within the
15 1/2" wide Trim it Ruler.
Again...I took a bunch of photos
and measurements of my layout process
along the way in hopes it will
help you when doing yours.
I stacked up 2 design boards
and I pressed my background fabric
in half because this block is centered.
Okay...here's my pics!!
The shirt measures about 18 1/2" long
and that will work out just fine within
the 20 1/2"Trim-It Ruler for the height.
I pinned everything into place first
and then glued very last after I
adjusted everything along the way.
I'm using 11 of these dark gray
1/4" Cute Little Buttons
and spacing them about 1 1/4" apart.
I will sew them on after
my quilt is quilted.
My shirt is ready for applique:)
Afterwards I'll press from the back and
then trim it down to
20 1/2" tall x 15 1/2" wide
so that it can be sewn into the quilt:)
I hope that you enjoyed week six and
my tutorial for these blocks:)
Now we have 16 applique blocks completed
and all of the border blocks done!!
Of course I can only fit eight of those on my design wall now:)
I am in love with this quilt!!...
thank you sew much for joining me
for week six of the...
How to Build a Scarecrow
Sew Along
I'll meet you right back here
on my blog next Monday for the
Hay and Pumpkin Block...
the very last one!!
