YaY!!!
It's time for a new row in the
Row 9...
Twinkly Winter Stars:)
Okay...let's get rowing girls!
Grab some scrappy-licious fabrics...
to make scrappy-licious stars:)
Grab your background too...
and get them all cut and ready to row!
Here we go!!!
Use 2 of the background squares and
sew an easy corner triangle
onto each end of the star fabric rectangle...
like this.
Trim....
And press towards the background.
Set aside.
Use the star fabric squares and sew an easy corner triangle
onto the top of each background rectangle ...
like this.
Trim.
And press towards the star fabric.
Sew the two remaining background squares on the top like this....
And press towards the squares.
Now lay one on each side of the center rectangle...
make sure that you flip one over so that it looks like this.
Sew together and press towards the center.
YaY!!!
One cute little twinkly winter star.
Now that you've made one...
make more the speedy way:)
YaY again!
NO sashing in between the blocks.
Just sew them together ...
but make sure that the center rectangle in the center
goes up and down and not across.
Press the seams BOTH ways like this!
I normally don't do that...
but it seems to work better for this row:)
I know that we all try to
sew an accurate 1/4" seam...
but of course...
no row is ever perfect....
so if you need a reminder on how to add the fabric on the ends...
to read the row 2 tutorial ...
when I show you all the details close up and personal:)
I have posted the links
on the flickr group for
your convenience
so that you can go to any row you want to at anytime before the row along is over and the pattern becomes available.
***EDIT July 2013
The pattern and instructions for the
BIMB Row Along Quilt are in my new book
"Quilty Fun"
to reserve your copy
And row 9 is complete:)
In just 2 short weeks...
it will be time for row 10!
I sure hope you're all having fun with it...
I would sew love to hear from you if you are!!!
Have a twinkly kind of day my friends:)

That's so very cute! I would happily make an entire quilt like that.
I'm having a great time, Lori. Add as many rows/weeks as you want. I look forward to each row and I LOVE all that you have posted. I have a grand daughter that's going to love this quilt when I finish.
Such fab little stars... I'm hoping to make a start this afternoon.. YAY ! Hope your day is twinkly too :-)
xx
Thank you SO much. I am sewing along and loving my rows. I have a whole evening tonight to play too!
Lucy~
I have such a good time with this quilt that I decided to make two of them, different colours. This row is going to be so easy and sweet, I think. Thank you for bringing us this fun!
Thank you Lori! Great row!
Take care, Leslie
Adorable! I love the little twinkly stars!!
I have been counting the days until the next row. YES I am having all kinds of fun!!! Thank you so much for doing this row along Lori!! Now on to the darling twinkling stars! :-)
Oh such pretty stars! Can't wait to get sewing, thank you, thank you!
such cute stars!
and interesting construction method.
i've always made friendship stars as a nine patch.
so . . . this looks fun!
i finally made my mugs last week, so i'm a leeeeeeeeetle behind still.
i'll get there one of these days.
first, i need to get all my shtuff put back in my freshly painted sewing room.
Love the stars! I love these. How fun they will be. My fabric is all waiting. I hope I have a few moments today to cut. Because I'm itching to make these. Thanks for all your work on this.
This is my favorite row so far! I'm having so much fun with this. Love your directions.
I'm so happy to be back to the Row Along! I'll be working on these today!
Hello Lori--I have just found your site and have been following....I LOVE your row-along blocks; I know I am hopelessly behind, but am contemplating joining in. Is it too late to join in? Julierose
Very cute twinkling stars :)
I wait eagerly for the each new row. This quilt is wonderful. One day I plan to make one myself and I'm wondering how you might suggest increasing the number of rows for a double or queen size. Just keep repeating my favorite rows until the size is achieved! Thank you.
Just completed the mitten row yesterday...YEAH! The stary row looks s-w-e-e-t, can't wait to get started.
Love it!!!! I haven't started yet--just want to verify-we should use an EXACT 1/4 inch? I thought you were supposed to use a scant 1/4--so please advise before I start! (being a newer quilter-I wasn't sure if it is always assumed that it should be scant.) thanks!
Lori, Will *Sew Cherry* ever be unretired? It is my all time favorite fabric and I've bought every remnant I can find online. Do you know where I can buy more of it?
Blessings
Gmama Jane
Psst...you are my Favorite fabric/pattern designer. I have almost everything you've ever designed all for the sewing machine quilt. I have to buy it ASAP
I have my little starry row added to the 8 other rows, but I did find this one harder to get just right. I have a graveyard of wonky stars to show how badly I did at them. Must have been the long break between rows
I'm just getting started on this cute row along. The tiny pieces are difficult, but I'm hanging in there. The apples are my absolute favorites!! (I am a teacher, so go figure!) I could do a whole quilt in them. I've done 5 of the rows so far and hope to catch up by the time you pot row 10.
I'm missing Row 4 and Row 6. Can you tell me where to click to get them? Love this whole row quilt thingy, and want to share it with my Bee.
Yikes! Love these but somehow I cut out the 1.5 by 3.5 strips for the houses ahead of time and mistakenly sewed these between the stars! Now I have a VERY long row. Too much work to take them out and they do look cute... no wonder why I had some strips left over! Oh, well. This did solve the ironing problem, however. I thought the row looked very long when I ironed it!
Thanks for the great tutorial!
