Starting a New Quilty Project...

Happy New Year my friends!!!!
I hope it will be a quilty one for all of you:)
I can't believe the holidays are pretty much over ...
time goes by so quickly when you are busy having fun:)

Did you have a lovely holiday?
I did...
and part of it was spent playing with
lovely stacks of fabric and a new book...

Yes...
I've started a new quilty project
for the new year!
(actually I started it a bit before Christmas)

I ordered the book a while back when
I started to see wonderful blocks
from the book on

The quilt had been a block of the month by

Amitie Textiles in Australia and
Jen decided to publish the pattern when the series ended.

I think the quilt is beautiful and each block unique.
I am using several different techniques to make the blocks...
like machine piecing...
paper piecing...
hand piecing...
and appliqué.

Here are the fabrics that I will be using....
I might add a print or two here and there as I make the blocks...
but I think I have a good variety of colors and prints gathered so far...
what do you think?

I've also discovered and joined the
for those who are making the Green Tea and Sweet Beans quilt also.
It's always fun to see everyone else's blocks and fabric choices.

I have no idea how long this quilt will be in the making...
My work schedule is pretty busy but I do get together with my quilty friends once a month for a Sew Day and I'm planning to work on this quilt then...
YaY for quilty friends and YaY for Sew Day!!!

What quilty projects are you starting for the new year?
xx

I've been wanting to do this pattern ever since I saw it several years ago. Where did you purchase it? I'd love to get started. I just joined a weekly sit and sew and this would be perfect.

Oh NO! This is the most amazing quilt I have ever seen! I JUST finally started knitting my '2 year' sweater (which I am determined to FINISH before it becomes a 2.5 year sweater!). One of my resolutions is to get through the STASH- now I will definately have to make this quilt!!!!
Your fabric choices are SOOOOOO gorgeous. Thanks for the inspiration for a great new project for a new year!

p.s. What fabric is the one in your red selection (oh and green too) that has inspirational quotes on it? 'sing more showtunes' , 'fall in love with life' etc. I would love to know!

Wow... this is going to be so fun to watch you do! I'm also wondering about the fabric line that lucia mentioned in her comment.

I'm making your great granny square quilt using my hand crank sewing machine! I'm also teaching it to four little girls at my church, and made one for my prayer quilt ministry.

hmmm, this is some beautiful fabric, I love all of the colorways!!! Your quilt will be very pretty and I'm anxious to see more as you get started and work to complete it. Have a great journey..

The fabrics you have pulled out are gorgeous, so many that I love. Your quilt will be amazing. Good luck getting it finished! I tell myself it's not about the destination with quilting projects, but the journey getting there. Doesn't matter if you finish it, as long as you have fun and enjoy doing it I have to tell myself that - so many don't get finished quickly with my busy life!

Love the fabrics! I'd like Santa to send me that stash! What line(s) are they from? I'm in the UK and while we have some good online quilt shops, getting new fabric lines can be tough.

Love the fabrics! Wish Santa had left me that stash! What line(s) are they from? I'm in the UK and while we have some good online shops, it can be difficult to get new lines.

I plan to finish some of my projects this year. And of course I have two row quilts to finish too. I always start new quilts, and find it difficult to go on with them when I find something new and interesting. I love your colours and fabrics!

Wow--how do you get all that pretty fabric?
I hope to finish my Sylvia's Bridal Sampler.
My goal is to start my husband's firefighter-themed fire station quilt.
Also, I have the Fons and Porter "Brown Bear" kit that I want to get to for my son.
And, I want to make a Swoon kit for my other son with the Pieces of Hope Autism-themed fabric by Riley Blake.

I've been in love with this pattern since I first saw it last summer. My book will be here in a few days. I can't wait to get started. You fabrics are gorgeous. Now I need to find some text print fabric!

I finally got my book. I will be joining you in this project. I just have to figure out how to make it king size because DH wants this on our bed. It's going to be beautiful! How far along have you made it? I would love to see your progress.

oooh I'm really looking forward to watching your progress on this one. Jenny owns my local quilt shop and this is on my project list (just not sure when I will get to it, however I am sure you will pop it to the top and make me forget the rest! lol). I adore your fabric choices too. All the best.
