This is what I have been working on over the weekend. The new block to add to my Paper Doll quilt that I will be teaching next week at Material Girls.
Sophie and Kassidy fly a kite and blow bubbles in the wind.
Every Easter morning my brothers and sisters and I would find a bottle of bubbles and I kite tucked into our baskets.
We would wait for the wind to kick up so that we could go out in our back pastures to fly our kites. We had plenty of land to spread out so that we didn't get our kite tails tangled up with each others...but once in a while we still did!
As for the bubbles...my kids get them in thier baskets and I still love to go out on the deck and blow a few myself....somethings I never outgrow...like the simple pleasure of watching a bubble to see where it lands or how long it can go before it pops........

Lori, that is seriously adorable.
Very cute new block. And how wonderful that you have kept up such simple pleasures from your childhood and passed them on to the next two generations.
Lori, so cute as always! Your Papre Dolls quilt, I think, is the cutest yet! Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful talent!
Isn't it funny about blowing bubbles. I still like to do it! Soon it will be fun to do with Allison. Love the new block. Your applique always impresses.
I have been enjoying your progress on this quilt. Will it be out as a single pattern soon?
Also, your grand-daughter's pig tails are cute as can be.
I gave my grandkids bubbles on Easter this year. It just seems to be part of spring. Darling block!

You must have small hands. I just can't get my fingers around little things.

Oh Lori, that block is just too darn cute! I'm with you, still love blowing bubbles. I buy my granddaughter (now 7) a bottle every year to go with her Easter goodies. :)
Absolutely LOVE the "Sophnie Flies a Kite" block. How wonderful to have you draw from your own childhood memories. You have such creativity!!! How about a sidewalk "hopscotch" block one day????
