Farm Fresh Sew Along - Week Eight!!

Howdy farm friends!!

Today is week eight of the
FARM FRESH SEW ALONG

YeeHaw!

We are making the
FARM FRESH Quilt
which finishes at
 88" x 95"
It consists of 50 pieced
Farm Girl Blocks
from two of my books...

Farm Girl Vintage
and
Farm Girl Vintage 2

There is a mix of both
6" and 12" blocks in our quilt:)
I'm so excited to be
sewing from these books again...
it's been a wonderful trip down
memory lane for me
and I want to thank you
for coming along with me:)

We are making our quilt with
my latest fabric collection...
FARMER'S DAUGHTER
***This sew along works
a little bit differently than my
 other sew alongs because...
 The patterns along with
 step by step instructions
are in the books, so I will be sewing
each and every one of the blocks
right along with you!
No need to sew ahead of time for me
as I usually do for tutorials.
For this sew along there is
no need for block instruction
because everything is already in the book:)
This format also allows you the choice
to sew your entire quilt at once
or space it apart like the schedule!

I did the week one video
on my YouTube channel to kick it off!

to watch my video
and please leave me a comment
on my channel after watching the video:)

Here are the week one blocks:)
All are 6" finished blocks and

Here are the five blocks for week four
to read that blog post

Here are the five blocks for week five
to read that blog post

Here are the five blocks for week six
to read that blog post

Here are he five blocks for week seven
to read that blog post

Here's the 5 Farm Girl Blocks for this week!

12" MIXING IT UP!
12" PEAS AND CARROTS 2
12" MAMA'S APRON
12" MR. SCARECROW
12" MILK COW

We are using the
Farm Girl Vintage 2 Book
for all of the blocks and
of course the sew along guide as well:)

 Let's sew!!

MAMA'S APRON

Trim-It Rulers that I used:
2 1/4" - 2 1/2" - 3 1/2"
 4 1/2" - 5 - 5 1/2" - 6 1/2"
7 1/2" 8 1/2" 10 1/2" - 12 1/2"

*NOTE*
Because of the vintage trim,
I did NOT press those seams open
that would have were towards the trim.
 In other words,
I pressed away from the trim:)

MILK COW

Trim-It Rulers that I used:
 1 1/2" - 2" - 2 1/2" - 3" - 3 1/2"
  4" - 5" - 6 1/2" - 7 1/2" - 8 1/2"
and 12 1/2"

 1 1/2" x 6 1/2" pink ruler.

I used 3 strands of floss and
 a backstitch for her tail...

And french knots with 3 wraps for her eyes.
I'll add 2 Cute Little Buttons
on her muzzle after my quilting is done:)

MIXING IT UP!

Trim-It Rulers that I used:
 1 1/2" - 2" - 3 1/2"
4" - 4 1/2" and 12 1/2"

 1 1/2" x 6 1/2" pink ruler.

MR. SCARECROW

Trim-It Rulers that I used:

1 1/2" - 2" - 2 1/2" - 3"
3 1/2" - 4 1/2" - 5 1/2" - 6 1/2"
and 12 1/2"

 1 1/2" x 6 1/2" pink ruler.

I used 3 strands of floss and long stitches
for his mouth and 3 strands
and a satin stitch for his nose.

I decided to give him blue eyes!
I used 3 strands of 503 DMC
and a french knot with 3 twists.

PEAS AND CARROTS 2

Trim-It Rulers that I used:
 2" - 2 1/2" - 3" - 3 1/2"
7 1/2" - 10 1/2" and  12 1/2"

And just like that we have 5 more
 12" Farm Girl Blocks!!

I posted about my
Farmer's Daughter Junk Journal
progress at the bottom of this post...

Thanks again for joining me today
in our sewing adventures
and I'll be right back here next week
to show you my next five finished blocks
from the Farm Girl Vintage Book.

I hope you are having fun
 "working on the farm"

Other Places to find me:

This week I added 2 things
to the inside front cover pocket.

One is this journaling card made from
an image of my Quilted Farm Girl Quilt:)

The other is this vintage tea dyed
graph paper for writing on both sides!
I added a looong tab for fun
and a beeswaxed Ball Jar.

This is the inside back cover pocket.
I added the same two types of items...

This one is from an image of my
Farm to Table Quilt Runner.

Another piece of vintage paper with an
extended tab and then a beeswaxed farm truck:)

I added another tag made from an image
of one of my quilts made with
my Farmers Daughter fabric collection...
it fit perfectly in this fold out pocket
that I made a few weeks ago.

On the other side I tucked in a pig!!!

Or a hog if you prefer lol

I made SEVERAL more farm animal
"paper dolls" to tuck in here and there
 and for clipping to pages:)

Horse:)

A bunny on one side...

and a second bunny on the other side!

I clipped this sweet plate of strawberries
on the opposite page of my
 Strawberry Patch Quilt Runner.

I clipped a laying hen onto this
short page from a vintage copy of
Farmer Boy by Laura Ingalls Wilder.
One of my favorites!

I thought this was a
good spot for this sheep ...
opposite the tag about
"Shepherds Friend vintage ad"

Another of my Quilt patterns
 designed with Farmers Daughter Fabrics:)

And another one again,
this one is Farmyard Friends:)

Some farm kitty's on
another page from Farmer Boy.

I made many more tags from my
Farmers Daughter Quilts
that I will eventually tuck in.
 I have plenty of space
in the other signature's.
Remember I showed you in my video
that I made 5 and so I have
plenty of room to take things out,
add them and move things around
among the 5 signitures:)

I'm still having fun making
"paper doll" farm animals
along with fruits and veggies too.

I have made room to write
on the back of each...so fun!
I'll show you more next week:)
