Hello there and welcome
to Week 14 of the
We are using my book
And sewing with Farm Girl Vintage Fabric...
And making 2 Farm Girl Blocks each week:)
Our first Farm Girl Block for today is
MAPLE LEAF
on page 90 of the book.
I love this simple little block for fall...
You can sew them up in all of
the beautiful fall leaf colors...
And just like the Little Acorn Block
they would be fabulous in the
small Mix and Match Quilt
on page 156 of the book.
A MAPLE LEAF BLOCK is a
must have addition to any fall quilt...
And of course I used it in my
October Skies Quilt
The setting for this one is
on page 140 of the book.
It's the exact same setting as the
sampler quilt on the cover but instead
of using all of the 45 Farm Girl Blocks...
you just pop in the autumn themed
Farm Girl Blocks for an
amazing quilt to celebrate fall!
Speaking of fall...
the pattern for my large
HARVEST BARN STAR
is on page 171 of the book.
I know during our sew along we are only
focusing on the 45 Farm Girl Blocks
but as there are more projects
in the book besides those blocks...
I thought it would be fun to
show a photo or two of them
along the way:)
Our next Farm Girl Block is
MILK COW
on page 92 of the book.
For the cover quilt I made a brown cow...
just like our milk cows
that we had growing up.
My favorite was named BOSS.
One of my earliest memories is of
being out in the barn with my dad
and watching him milk the cow.
I liked the sound of the milk
as it went into the bucket:)
I thought it would be fun to make a
6" black and white cow...
And give it a ride in the back of
GRANDPA's TRUCK BLOCK
from page 63 of the book:)
Now he can join
WOOLLY SHEEP and HAPPY HORSE
in the parade of
"farm animals in the back of a truck"
if you missed the tutorial
on how I did this.
I'll keep adding to my truck parade
and show you more as I make progress:)
My design wall is filling up quickly
with my Farm Girl Vintage projects...
I'm having so much fun that
I don't want to stop!
I hope that you are having fun
with this sew along as well:)
I'll be right back here
next week with two more blocks!
xx
Lori
