Well hello again:)
Welcome back to my
Today we are going to put more of the
Vintage Blocks together:)
We are going to start with section three.
The Vintage Blocks that you will
need for this section are:
15" Pattern Basket
15" Around the Corner
15" Quilting Bee
15" Penny Candy
Both of the 7" Wildflower Blocks
This is what section three looks like put together:)
Section three sashings
you will need to cut:
2 - 2" x 15 1/2"
4 - 1 1/2" x 15 1/2"
1- 1 1/2" x 7 1/2"
Sew the 1 1/2" x 7 1/2" sashing strip
between the two Wildflower Blocks.
Then sew the 2" x 15 1/2"
sashing strips to each side.
Sew the Pattern Basket to the left
(or any of the 15" Vintage Blocks)
Sew a 1 1/2" x 15 1/2" sashing strip
to the left side
It should measure
15 1/2" x 25 1/2"
Now sew three more 15" Vintage Blocks together to form section three.
Take Note that you will need to sew a
1 1/2" x 15 1/2" sashing strip
in-between each block....
AND
onto each end.
Also take note that there is one more
15" Vintage Block that will
go in another section.
I've saved out the 15" Picnic Block for that.
You can use your Picnic Block
in this section and save out one
of these for another:)
Section three should measure
15 1/2" tall x 74 1/2" wide
Now let's put together section four!
Blocks that you will need
are the following:
12" Little Farmhouse
12" Grandma's Star
12" Vintage Lily
12" Egg Money
The remaining 2 of the 6" Rhinestone Blocks
12" Twirl
This is what section four
looks like put together:)
Sashing strips to cut are:
2 - 2" x 12 1/2"
5 - 1 1/2" x 12 1/2"
First step is to sew the two
Rhinestone Blocks together
and then add the
2" x 12 1/2" sashing strips to each side.
It should measure
9 1/2" wide x 12 1/2" tall
Now add a 12" Vintage Block
to each side to form the
center of section four.
Sew two 12" Vintage Blocks
to the left side and one
12" Vintage Block tom the right.
Take Note that you will need to
add a 1 1/2" x 12 1/2" sashing strip
in-between AND also onto each end.
YAY AGAIN!!
Two more sections are completed...
that's more than half of
Grandma's Vintage Blocks.
Tomorrow I'll show you how to
sew sections five and six.
I'll also talk about
sewing the sections together and
what I'm doing about a border!

Hi Lori,
I've been following along with you and your Grandma this past year and have all of my blocks done. They look fantastic! I can't believe how pretty they are looking put together in groups now. Thank you so much for all of your hard work this past year putting on this fun sew-along for us. I love the vintage blocks re-made with today's sewing methods. I could keep doing this kind of sew-along for forever! I'm excited to see the rest come together! Thank you so much.
