Welcome to week THIRTEEN of the
"MERCANTILE SAMPLER"
Sew Along!
Are you ready to sew with me?
I hope that you will join me here each week
when I will be doing two tutorials
weekly...every Monday and Friday.
We are making the
Mercantile Sampler Quilt

The quilt is made with my fabric
collection called Mercantile:)
We are piecing all 25 blocks
and then turning them into a
12" circle to applique onto a
4-Patch Block background!
I detail all of the supplies
that you need to make the quilt in my
Bee Prepared post right here on my blog.
I have already posted the
post which not only details
all of the supplies needed but

THRIFTY BLOCK
Cutting each block is very easy
because of the sew along guide
that is provided for you.
Let's start by making the
square in a square block for the center.
We will simply be adding an
easy corner triangles
to all four corners.
Do two opposite sides first.
Trim and press seams open.
Add the remaining two.
It should measure 5" x 5" at this point.
I don't have a Trim-It Ruler
this size yet but I'm happy to say
that it's coming soon!!
Press seams open.
Now let's make the 4 flying geese
segments for the star points.
Draw a single sewing line
onto the back of the red squares.
Sew one side first before
you can add the other side.
Press seams open.
Next let's make the corner segments.
These are pressed open as well.
Now lay the block out
like this and sew it together!
Add the borders...
And make your last circle:)
Make your 4-Patch background.
Let's prepare for applique:)
Line up the center seams as per usual...
Pin into place and glue.
Last block is ready for applique!
As per usual...after applique
trim it down to 14 1/2" square
using the 14 1/2" Trim-It Ruler.
*Continue to line up the seams
in the block
with the lines on the rulers that
go both ways...straight and diagonal
for easy peasy centering!
We now have all 25 blocks completed...
YAY!!
I'll meet you right back here
on my blog this Friday for
THE BIG FINISH!!...
xx
